![]() _Yesterday I went to visit Elizabeth Taylor or at least the majority of her things that Christie’s is auctioning off starting this December 13th. Naturally it is where wise holiday shoppers will be going (or most likely calling) to get that perfect little holiday gift. And if you don't celebrate any holidays you could use it as your "Just Because It's Tuesday" gift source. If you've already finished your holiday shopping consider stopping by to get a look at these special items even though it is hard to get a good look in the poorly laid out exhibition. _The collection is extensive and goes beyond the 33.19 carat (but who's counting) Elizabeth Taylor Diamond and the Mike Todd Tiara or even her own purchase of the Prince of Wales Diamond Brooch. As you would expect there are tons of diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and every other stone possible from every great jeweler around the world. I think one of the best treasures is the Taj Mahal necklace that was owned by the Shah Jahangir who had presented it to his wife before her death and his follow up tribute…the Taj Mahal. Of course if you are looking for something equally special but slightly less obvious, there are some great treasurers like the 1958 movie poster for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, or the Albert Hirschfeld work entitled The Little Foxes, or go for something really subtle the “Big Kiss” from Andy Warhol at the large size of 4.5inches x 6.5inches.
One thing is for sure, if you do end up with one of these items you’ll have a hard act to follow. But it’s certainly worth a shot. Some of the proceeds will be going to her charity http://www.elizabethtayloraidsfoundation.org/ so you’ll be doing some good along the way. So get registered today - the sale starts soon.
